Canon refreshes Pixma range

Canon has updated its Pixma range of inkjet printers and multifunctions. The product updates are primarily focused on home users, with minor hardware improvements as well as better software, states PC World.

For home users, Canon has released the Pixma iP4700 inkjet printer, as well as the MP640 and MP990 inkjet multifunctions.

The Canon Pixma iP4700 inkjet printer offers automatic duplex printing, CD/DVD printing and print speeds of up to 9.2 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome documents and 8.1ppm for colour ones.

Oki offers predictable print costs

Oki has offered a print package incorporating payments based on estimated monthly output including consumables and support, says Computing.co.uk.

The scheme, dubbed Flatrate, covers all “essential” consumables and support, and “fully inclusive” service for Oki printers or MFDs in the customer contract, according to the vendor.

“Oki will itself be contracted to the end-user and will handle consumables and support as required,” the vendor said in a statement.

HP unveils publishing solutions

HP has partnered with retail chain Kmart which would see the printer manufacturer roll out its Retail Publishing Solutions across 184 stores nationwide. The roll-out is expected to be completed over the course of a few months, reports ITWire.

Kmart customers will be able to order and collect in one hour a range of photo prints and related products such as books, calendars and posters.

The Kmart Online Photo Centre will be powered by HP's Snapfish service. It will allow customers to upload photos and then order prints and gift items such as photo books, mugs, stubbie holders, and pet bowls.
