Canon streamlines systems

Canon will spend about 25 billion yen to streamline its design and product data systems in the company in 2010 and expects savings of more than 100 billion yen over three years, reports Reuters.

The electronics manufacturer will consolidate its two 3D computer-aided design systems as well as standardise those for managing product data.

A production data system that handles output, orders and other information will be streamlined and adopted in 25 locations at home and abroad.

Kodak expands Marketmover service

To help commercial printers grow their businesses and enhance their offerings to clients, Kodak has expanded its Marketmover Business Development Services to include Kodak Insite systems, states GraphicRepro.

Through this addition to the Marketmover programme, Kodak further supports customers' efforts in selling new value-added services and strengthening relationships with their clients.

Based on the positive feedback from print customers using Marketmover services, Kodak recognised the opportunities and benefits of broadening the service to address the needs of workflow software customers.

Lexmark profits plummet

Lexmark International's second-quarter profit dropped 80% as the global recession slashed demand for copiers and printers as well as cartridges, says Forbes.

Net income attributable to common shareholders fell to $17 million, or 22c per share, down from $83.7 million, or 89c per share, last year.

However, excluding one-time charges, the company earned 55c per share.
