Canon`s flagship Digital IXUS 700 now available from Rectron

Johannesburg, 14 Jun 2005

Canon`s new flagship 7.1 Megapixel IXUS 700 is now available to South African resellers from Rectron. The camera features, among others, 3.0x optical zoom, large 2.0-inch LCD, high-quality VGA video clip playback and a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connection.

Driven by Canon`s DIGIC II image processing architecture, the camera features a Print/Share button for easy PictBridge direct printing and fast file uploads. Its 7.1 Megapixel sensor also allows for detailed enlargements greater than A3 size.

For versatility and ease of use, the Digital IXUS 700 has a total of 13 shooting modes. These include auto and manual, allowing more experienced or adventurous users to take control of settings such as white balance, exposure compensation and shutter speed. Also, a new more powerful flash features six modes and has a range of up to 4.8m at ISO Auto.

Adds Zandr'e Rudolph, Canon product manager at Rectron: "The Digital IXUS 700 also incorporates a number of new advanced video features. Digital zoom is now available while shooting video and users can record up to one minute at 60fps for smooth in-camera slow motion playback.

"For recording clips suitable for e-mail attachment, a `Compact` mode provides for recording up to three minutes of 15fps, 160 x 120 resolution files." An optional waterproof case allows users to capture marine life stills and video down to 40m.
