Cape firm wins US innovation award

Cape Town-based search marketing company Clicks2Customers has won a US award for innovation for its efforts to advance the online marketing industry.

Commission Junction University (CJU) presented the award to Clicks2Customers chief technology officer Vinny Lingham and head of campaign management Charlene Troskie in California.

CJU is considered to be one of the biggest marketing affiliate networks. It facilitates strategic relationships between marketers and online advertisers.

Clicks2Customers was started over a year ago and is owned by incuBeta Online Marketing. It has offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Los Angeles.

According to Clicks2Customers, around 500 industry experts and successful online advertisers and publishers attended the 2004 CJU awards dinner. Clicks2Customers was selected for one of five awards from more than 100 000 marketers operating in 150 countries.

The CJU says the award presented to Clicks2Customers is given to a deserving recipient who: "Exemplifies a dedication to advancing the online marketing industry with a passion for driving results. A market leader, respected for its vision, values and practices, this company creates momentum within the industry."

Lingham was also part of a CJU seminar panel that discussed the topic "what makes publishers tick".

"The development of third-generation technology and advancement in paid search campaign methodologies in the last year have been behind the massive growth in the search marketing industry," Lingham says. "Search marketing has developed into a viable media and we hope to maintain our position at the cutting-edge of this dynamic and exciting industry."
