Captaris` acceptance into AAPP is good news for SA, says AmVia

Johannesburg, 18 Apr 2002

AmVia, the leading provider of unified communications and mobile business solutions in SA, has announced that CallXpress unified messaging software is now compatible with Alcatel products.

This follows the announcement that Captaris, developer of CallXpress, has been accepted into the Alcatel Application Partner Programme (AAPP).

Fairoz Jaffer, Inland Growth Officer at AmVia, says the announcement is good news for AmVia`s business partners and end-users.

"Products from Alcatel, a world-leading communications server and IP telephony provider, are widely used in SA," he says.

"As an Alcatel application partner, Captaris will engage in co-marketing efforts, product interoperability development and testing, and channel development to help enterprise customers purchase leading unified messaging and IP telephony solutions from a single source."

Captaris CallXpress unified messaging has passed extensive compatibility testing to become certified as integration compliant for the Alcatel OmniPCX 4400, an Internet Protocol private communications exchange (IP PCX).

The award-winning Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 is designed to support the rapidly converging worlds of voice and data while enabling enterprise users to migrate to an IP-based voice and data network at their own pace.

CallXpress improves a company`s productivity by bringing voice, e-mail and fax messages into one "inbox" where they can be prioritised and managed more quickly. Mobile CallXpress users can manage all of their messages in about one-third the time of accessing the three message types separately. The software allows users to access and manage all of their messages by phone, Internet, computer or other mobile device, so checking messages can be a great deal more convenient and timely.

"The Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 has proven itself as a feature-rich, reliable IP PCX that provides customers with an excellent platform for voice/data convergence," Jaffer confirms.

"CallXpress unified messaging is a perfect match with the 4400 to provide businesses with increased flexibility, productivity and cost-savings."

CallXpress software has earned the largest market share among unified messaging solutions that are not proprietary to a specific PBX manufacturer.

Companies using CallXpress to improve their communications flow, range in size from small businesses to multi-national enterprises. Highest usage has been within the financial services, healthcare and legal industries, as well as government and education organisations.
