Value-added South African distributor of Captaris products, AmVia, today announced that Captaris Inc, a leading provider of business information delivery solutions, has been named as the worldwide leader of the fax server market in the Computer-Based Fax Report 2004-2009 from Davidson Consulting.
Captaris achieved a 27% worldwide market share in 2004, up from 24.6% in 2003 and now four times larger than its nearest competitor. In North America, Captaris increased its market share from 30% to 38.7%. Captaris also led in the European and Asia Pacific regions, and in every size of business market segment.

"Fax servers sold well in 2004 in part because corporations are interested in moving documents in a secure manner, and that translates into fax," said Davidson. "They want to know that the document`s transmission is secure, that messages can be audited, that they can be stored in a central repository and searched for quick retrieval, that messages can be received in confidentiality and moved from place to place as the need to process them arises."
