CA`s Unicenter AutoSys Job Management wins Network Computing`s Well-Connected Award

Johannesburg, 10 May 2005

Computer Associates International, Inc today announced that Network Computing magazine has chosen CA`s Unicenter AutoSys Job Management r 4.5 as a "Well-Connected Award" winner for job scheduling under its network and systems management category.

The Well-Connected Awards honour outstanding technology products and services as chosen by technology editors from products tested in an enterprise environment in the magazine`s Real-World Labs. The award follows Network Computing`s recent selection of Unicenter AutoSys Job Management as its "Editor`s Choice" for job management over solutions from BMC Software, Tidal Software, Cybermation, Argent Software and Vexus Consulting.

"The Well-Connected Awards are the only industry awards given by technologists based on real-world product testing and evaluation. These awards take the pulse of the technology industry and reflect the best of what IT has to offer," said Fritz Nelson, vice-president and group publisher of the Network Computing Enterprise Architecture Group.

"This is an important distinction from any other award programme - the products selected in the Well-Connected Awards are unique because they have been graded with the same criteria IT professionals use to make purchasing decisions - truly the most outstanding products and services available."

According to Network Computing, CA "has been manipulating job streams with care and dexterity forever, so it`s no surprise that Unicenter AutoSys Job Management 4.5 is a distributed powerhouse". The magazine stated that Unicenter AutoSys Job Management "is infused with flexible and easy-to-use organisation" and "has top-notch access control and a clear, usable management interface".

Unicenter AutoSys Job Management delivers event-driven scheduling, centralised real-time monitoring and programmable error recovery to help ensure dependability and scalability. Integration with Unicenter job scheduling engines on the mainframe allows customers to deploy job scheduling across multiple environments and create cross-platform job management policies. Release 4.5 delivers asset-level security and role-based administration, centralised real-time monitoring, an enhanced Web interface, and Web-based job flow simulation.

"To maximise ROI and streamline operations, IT organisations have to ensure that their disparate enterprise computing resources work together in a way that fully exploits potential synergies and relationships," said Will Bauman, senior vice-president of Unicenter job management at CA. "In bestowing this award, Network Computing is confirming the tremendous value that Unicenter AutoSys Job Management r4.5 delivers by fulfilling these essential - and often challenging - operational objectives."
