CA`s Unicenter TNG to manage network for major network and Internet service provider

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA)has announced that Kocnet, one of Turkey`s leading and network service providers, is deploying CA`s Unicenter TNG to meet its objective of controlling its distributed network and strengthening its eBusiness infrastructure. CA Services assisted in the Unicenter TNG implementation to ensure that all business requirements were met.

Kocnet conducted several comparative tests and evaluations with a number of enterprise management systems, including IBM/Tivoli TME and found that Unicenter TNG was superior due to its rich functionality, robust integration capabilities and proven investment return opportunity. To meet the challenges of today`s eBusiness demands, Kocnet chose Unicenter TNG for its product scalability, integration capability, interoperability, multi-platform support and advanced management features.

Unicenter TNG manages Kocnet`s entire network of hubs, routers, UNIX and NT servers, Oracle, Sybase and SQL database management systems and Exchange applications. The Kocnet network encompasses 14,000 clients, 3,500 eBusiness enabled suppliers and 70 hosting providers.

"Central Event Console, world class 2-D and 3-D visual capabilities and interoperability with current and future systems make this product the right choice for us," said Abdulkadir Ucuncu, Kocnet`s enterprise management project manager. "We have experienced tremendous improvement in the end user service level thanks to the use of Advanced Help Desk."

Kocnet attributed the smooth transition to the rapid implementation provided by CA Services. CA Services supported the Unicenter TNG implementation process by analyzing customer requirements, managing infrastructure design, deploying Unicenter TNG and supervising the project. The entire implementation, including management of diverse types of servers and mail systems, network monitoring and performance measurement and integration with the Advanced Help Desk (AHD) option of Unicenter TNG, which makes it possible to find and solve system and network problems wherever they originate, took six months. The system`s designed to generate "trouble-tickets" automatically and to follow them through the help desk`s life cycle.

The system encompasses intelligent paging, so that if a user escalates an issue or a ticket is not resolved in a set period, the system will contact the appropriate person.

"Unicenter TNG was able to easily address our key concerns of Service Level Management and Help Desk applications to better measure customer-based service performance," continued Ucuncu. "We also chose Unicenter for its multiple protocol support and central resource management capabilities." Kocnet is taking advantage of a host of other Unicenter TNG options, including Network Management, Response Manager, UNIX and NT Server Management, Inventory Management, Anti-Virus and Exchange Server Management.

The company is also using Advanced Storage Option, Software Delivery, Database Management (Oracle, Sybase and SQL) and Web Server Management. "The Kocnet project presented a strategic opportunity and we are pleased with accomplishing such a large-scale project within a short implementation period of six months to complete customer satisfaction," said Branislav Vujovic, CA senior vice president, Eastern Europe.
