Casey forms consulting subsidiary

The JSE-listed Casey Group has launched a new consulting subsidiary, Casey Consulting, to focus on consultancy-based business solutions.

This follows the refocusing of Casey and Consulting, a group subsidiary that, until recently, handled both networking and consulting. According to Ebrahim Waheb, managing director of Casey Consulting, his subsidiary was "refocused and re-launched" as a result of the recent acquisition of Johannesburg-based networking company, Comnet. "Comnet, acquired by Casey in June this year, has now been rebranded Casey Networking and will be focusing on the networking arena - especially on the mid-sized market sector. This meant there were certain duplications and business overlaps with Casey Networking & Consulting - and this was the reason for its re-focus."

Casey Networking now also operates as a subsidiary within the Casey Group.

Waheb said the re-branded Casey Consulting would focus on "business consulting - especially for the SMME (Small Micro and Medium Enterprises) market". Main areas of expertise will include POS and accounting solutions, with the company also planning to concentrate more strongly on consulting in the SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) market space from next year.

"In the POS and accounting arena," said Waheb, "we have already successfully installed our locally designed Vytill accounting solution, which is currently running in companies such as Nizaams and Kwik Kat."

He said as a new, refocused subsidiary of the Casey Group, Casey Consulting will have a far more "consultancy-focused flavour". "If we need networking expertise," he said, "we will call upon Casey Networking for assistance."

Casey Consulting offers a turnkey solution to its growing clientele.

This includes conducting full needs analyses on behalf of the client as well as the ultimate provision of a conceptual design.

"We study every aspect of a business before implementing a solution. If, for instance, we find - after conducting a needs analysis - that our Vytill accounting and POS solution is not appropriate, we will recommend a more appropriate solution. This means we are focusing on providing a well-rounded business consultancy first - and then only do we move in with a product and the overall implementation."

Waheb said that while Casey Consulting is yet to make any significant impact on the group`s bottomline, it will become an "important profit contributor" within the next two to three years".

The Casey group of Companies consists of several highly focused subsidiaries, including hardware and , Internet services, networking, and maintenance.
