Casey to export Vytill to rest of Africa

Casey, the JSE-listed technology group, has announced it is to export its -based Vytill accounting software solution - designed specifically for the SMME (Small Medium and Micro Enterprises) market - to the rest of Africa.

The locally-developed software solution, which has thus far cost Casey`s software development arm R1m million to develop, is to be sold via a dealer , with the first two dealers already established in Harare, Zimbabwe, and Maputo, in Mozambique.

This was confirmed by CEO, Mahomed Cassim, who said the recently-launched Vytill solution has now being installed at a number of local sites, including ABC Sweets, Fahb Distributors and Kwikat."We are now confident, following the close monitoring of a number of Beta sites, that Vytill is ready for broad commercial release."

He said the company`s software development team also recently enhanced the original version of Vytill - released as a Beta product earlier this year - "by providing it with Internet capabilities" in a move to target the booming e-business market sector.

Management believes the new Vytill offering allows the company`s growing client base to harness the benefits of business-to-business or branch-to-branch e-commerce technology, thereby taking the software "into the next millennium".

Cassim believes that sales of Vytill will be brisk during 2000, adding that revenues from this source will impact on bottomline profits by as early as February 2001. "With the bulk of development work behind us and a strong response from the local market, we believe the product is well-suited to the SMME market, both locally and in the rest of Africa. While it offers all the sophistication and features of a top-end product, it is very easy to use - a vital factor in any emerging market. There will also be a lot of cross-pollination with Vytill and our hardware division; when we install hardware and see a need for Vytill, we will market it as a value-add, or vice versa," said Cassim.

Hardware sales are conducted via Casey Electronics, one of the most successful subsidiaries within the Casey group of companies. Casey Electronics is one of the country`s top six distributors. Vytill falls under the auspices of one of the company`s six subsidiaries, Casey Software Development.
