Cashbook software solution developed for ACCPAC

Johannesburg, 18 Sep 2001

A powerful, integrated cashbook software solution for users of the ACCPAC accounting package has been launched by Acctivity, a Sandton-based Softline company specialising in the development of customised, add-on business software modules.

Known as Bank Manager, the module was developed by Acctivity using the ACCPAC accounting software development kit.

"Our objective was to significantly improve the management of cash and bank transactions," said Acctivity sales and marketing director Bernard Ford. "The module is compatible with the major banks, including Standard, First National, Absa and Nedbank, and compatibility templates can be developed for any other bank."

Bank Manager automatically supports any database used by ACCPAC, including Pervasive SQL (on NT, Netware or Linux) and MS SQL Server. The data for a company resides in the same directory as the data for other ACCPAC modules so there is no requirement for additional administration.

"It's a comprehensive solution covering the entire spread of a company's bank administration needs," said Ford. "It co-exists with the Bank Services module and with Acctivity's EFT (electronic funds transfer) Manager to provide highly sophisticated, yet simple to apply, bank administration functionality, including the ability to make and receive electronic payments."

Among the features and functions of the module are an ability to capture miscellaneous receipts and payments and standard ACCPAC tax and currency functionality. It will also print cheques, deposits and receipts.

There is a potent, efficiency-boosting recurring transactions function to streamline bank processes and the module is fully integrated with ACCPAC Tax Services, Multi-currency, Fiscal Calendar, Restart Maintenance, Security, Data Integrity and Optional Tables.

Enterprise level functionality is achieved through Bank Manager's ability to capture inter-company receipts and payments via integration with the ACCPAC Inter-Company Transactions module.

Users can conduct bank reconciliations either manually or automatically by importing electronic bank statements. The formats and layouts for the imported files can be defined by users to suit their choice of bank. An unlimited number of users can reconcile a single bank account at the same time and the reconciled data can be retained indefinitely. Sub-ledgers such as accounts receivable are automatically updated when reconciliations are carried out.

A wide range of fields is available within general ledger transactions and optional fields and the distribution codes and sets for different banks can be individually defined. The Acctivity Bank Manager module supports standard ACCPAC security as well as the e.Advantage suite of products and technology.
