CCH moves R12m in HP equipment

Johannesburg, 13 Jul 1998

Computer Configurations is stepping up its penetration of the Hewlett-Packard computer market, and reports R12 million in sales in the past six months. The company, part of Computer Configurations Holdings, has an established reputation for its midrange solutions and service. It has aggressively broken into the Hewlett-Packard market since becoming a certified HP Connect value-added reseller in January.

Having initially had major successes with HP equipment in education markets, Computer Configurations is also focusing on and making inroads into other markets such as parastatals, and the HP/SAP R/3 markets, notably through a recent sale at Philips SA.

Computer Configurations sales director Anne Tissiman says the HP channel system works well because it provides a high level of value-add to customers.

"An important factor in HP`s success has been its long-term commitment to selling its products and services through the channel," says Gilbert Farina, GM Commercial Channel at HP. "In November 1997 we announced that in addition to PC and printer sales, which are sold exclusively through the channel, we would increase Unix systems sales through the channel to 80%. Computer Configurations has partnered with HP in this area and has maximised the benefits of working with us."

"CC has more than 12 years` experience in Unix and Windows NT systems that gives us the ability to integrate systems and applications across the entire business spectrum," says Tissiman. "Our 24-hour support enhances our services to our clients. Added to that, the synergy among companies in the group such as Outsourcing Configurations and Business Recovery Services enables us to offer end-to-end solutions and support."

Computer Configurations is also establishing itself in neighbouring countries such as Namibia and Mozambique.
