CCIE Club Africa now launched in Kenya

Cisco and NIL, CCIE Club Africa founders, organised the event to introduce the initiative and eventually bring together the whole Kenyan CCIE community.

Johannesburg, 25 Oct 2013

NIL and Cisco established the elite CCIE Club Africa to give the African CCIE community an opportunity to meet, network and share best practices. Launched earlier in 2013, the club currently consists mostly of CCIEs from South Africa, where NIL's local office is located. However, CCIEs from other African countries are also starting to join.

On 8 October 2013, Cisco and NIL officially launched the CCIE Club Africa in Kenya, in order to present the project to local CCIEs. At the event in Nairobi, 12 new CCIEs joined the club, bringing the member number to almost 100! The founders of the club aim for it to eventually span the whole African continent.

"Our Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) certification is praised worldwide as the most prestigious networking certification in the industry, and we continually update and revise the testing tools and methodologies to ensure unparalleled program quality, relevance and value. Indeed, the CCIE program is renowned for setting the standard for internetworking expertise globally. We are very excited that NIL is extending the CCIE Club Africa to Kenya. This will have social as well as technical advantages, facilitating regular forums where CCIEs can meet, network and share best practices," commented Sabrina Dar, General Manager, Cisco East Africa.

The aim of the club is to give the Kenyan and African CCIEs access to an exclusive membership, whereby the members can come together in a forum and leverage off Cisco and NIL's experience, and industry experts learning about current and future Cisco networking technologies and trends. It also gives members the opportunity to network with other CCIEs, share experiences, keep their skills and knowledge in line with latest trends and have some fun.

"Bringing the club to Kenya is part of our strategy of expanding it over the whole continent, and connecting the whole African CCIE community. NIL will actively promote the club over the region, and more local official launches will follow in the future," added Martin Camp, Director, NIL Africa.

NIL, which manages the club's activities, has a long tradition of developing CCIEs within the company and deep expertise in Cisco technologies. The company achieved its first CCIE certification in 1993, when Ivan Pepelnjak, currently NIL's Chief Technology Advisor, received his highly valued CCIE designation. Today, NIL employs 18 CCIE-certified engineers.
