Underscoring its commitment to establishing a focused African channel, Veritas Software has appointed Channel Development Partners (CDP) as its master reseller into Africa.
Mike Rees, business development manager: Africa for Veritas Software, qualifies a master reseller as a company that conforms to all the relevant skill and qualification requirements.
"For some time now, Veritas has been looking at establishing a focused African channel, particularly because we wanted to improve service to our African client base. CDP offered us an established channel and Veritas skills base, as well as a proven track record in selling our enterprise range of products in Africa."
CDP`s Anthony Duckworth says the company has a footprint in key African regions. "We have fairly large operations in Casablanca, Lagos, Nairobi and Port Louis. However, we are also well represented on the rest of the African continent and the Indian Ocean Islands."
Previously, Veritas had a limited presence in Africa, outside of SA, however, its support infrastructure in these areas required an upgrade. "CDP`s offer of an existing channel means affordable and efficient in-country service will be available to our African clients with immediate effect. We are also looking forward to CDP bringing new resellers on board," says Rees.
Part of the CDP strategy is to consolidate existing Veritas business in Africa. Large international companies such as Royal Dutch Shell make use of Veritas in Africa and CDP aims to deliver support and product to these companies via their established reseller network, notes Duckworth.
Both Rees and Duckworth agree that Africa offers huge potential. Says Duckworth: "Markets such as those found in Mauritius and Botswana are fairly mature, with financial, telecommunications and governmental sectors offering great opportunities for a vendor such as Veritas."
Rees concludes: "Africa has always formed part of Veritas Software`s agenda, however, now is the right time for us to launch a concentrated effort in this region. We will start reseller training sessions on Veritas and its product set in Nigeria at the end of February and hope to see these taking place in various other African countries soon."
