The Internet Products Division of Elron Software Incorporated has appointed local computer security and data protection specialist Corporate Defence Solutions (CDS), a distributor of its Internet and security products in South Africa.
CDS MD, Hennie Bosman, former SAP marketing manager at Brainware, launched CDS in South Africa in November last year. The company specialises in security solutions consultancy and services, as well as distributing a wide range of security and data protection products aimed at both the corporate and the SME market.
The Elron agreement enables CDS to add three key products, Elron Internet Manager, Bandwidth Optimizer, and Firewall for NT, to its portfolio of security products. Other products in the CDS stable include the PERMIT Enterprise, Visionsoft and Soft Winter ranges.
"The products we offer comprise a toolkit enabling us to offer tailored security and/or data protection solutions to our clients," says Bosman. CDS services include encryption, Internet security, global network security, security audits, computer fraud investigation, disaster recovery strategy and virus protection. The company also offers user training as well as remote and on-site post-installation user support.
"Electronic theft is the fastest growing crime in all developed countries," says Bosman. "The cost of this world-wide problem is estimated at R50 billion and is expected to rise to R 1 250 billion by next year. We have entered the market in South Africa at a point where most companies here have not yet implemented a security solution. We intend to raise awareness of the need to implement security solutions in the local market. With the growing reliance on IT in business, IT security becomes not only an IT management issue, but also a corporate and security management issue that needs to be addressed in a holistic way.
