Celafrique broadens in-house IT systems through Speer partnership

Speer Management Services has specific objectives to reduce total cost of ownership, and to deliver the best fit IT business solutions possible. Often the solution will require systems development, an area where Speer is held in high regard. For Celafrique, systems development played a major role.

A contract has been signed between Speer Management Services and Celafrique to deliver a business-focused scanning solution. The solution was created to allow Celafrique to be able to search, print and e-mail documentation in the quickest and least complicated way possible.

The scanning solution primarily incorporates client documentation, as this is where the filing and searching is most time-consuming. The new system will ensure the necessary documents can be easily accessed, printed and e-mailed within a fraction of the time currently spent. Added to this, it will make certain that no additional information capturing will be necessary, and physical filing of documents will be eliminated as it will no longer be necessary. Unlike conventional methods, the solution provided by Speer will enable documents to be available immediately after scanning.

In order for the above objective to be realised, a specific module was particularly necessary. This module has never been developed for the scanner used in this solution, and Speer was challenged to develop the interface. This module is now an industry first for SA.

"Creating the code for the solution was a challenge because it was specific to a particular brand of scanner. We managed to create this and put together a solid business solution for Celafrique," says Johan Strydom, Solutions Director at Speer Management Services.

Speer is proud of the fact that Magic, the development tool used in this project, will form the base of this solution as well as all new developments within Celafrique.
