International Project Management Day is on 2 November, reports the International Project Management Day Web site.

The day is intended to encourage project-based organisations worldwide, or organisations which utilise project management methodologies, to schedule some type of recognition event within their organisations, the Web site says.

The day also aims to demonstrate appreciation for the achievements of project managers and their teams, it says.

Juggling regulation and risk management

KPMG's Project Management Survey 2005 reveals 49% of companies have experienced at least one project failure, reports ITWeek.

Another survey, Mergers & Acquisitions Survey 2006, shows more than two-thirds of deals fail to enhance value, while figures released by the National Outsourcing Association show that 50% of outsourcing projects fail within five years, the report says.

Corporate legislation and the advent of globalisation have made it difficult for company bosses to juggle performance and management, it says.

CMCS hosts Qatar edition of project and risk management road show

In continuation with its series of road shows, Collaboration Management and Control Solutions (CMCS) says the Qatar edition of its Project and Risk Management Road show will be held on 1 November in Doha, reports Ameinfo.

The road show aims to showcase a host of new and enhanced features, functionalities and benefits of Primavera 5.0 as well as provide a detailed view on the Primavera Project Planner 3.1, the report says.

In addition to showcasing Primavera 5.0, the road show will highlight tools and methodologies to help organisations, large and small, address critical project to maintain constant growth, it says.

Project Prefect releases Project Administrator v4

Australian-based Project Perfect has announced the release of Project Administrator version 4, reports PRWeb.

The new version includes added screens to record project details, and functionality to project parameters such as assumptions. In addition, there are new reports and internal changes to prepare for the next evolution, which will include the option of a SQL Server database, it says.

Users can create a project plan or project charter by recording information in the database and selecting which of the 13 components of the plan they want to include, it says.
