Celebrating youth month at ICT Expo

To celebrate youth month, Sentech recently participated in an expo on youth and ICT opportunities at the Ekurhuleni FET College in Brakpan.

Organised by the youth directorate within the GDYC Chief Directorate of the department, the purpose of the expo was to outline the FET ICT skills programme and to showcase the different opportunities available for young people within the ICT sector.

Sentech exhibited technology and ICT products and also introduced the youth to the multiple career paths that are open to them in the ICT industry.

We realise the youth are the future and we are committed to creating an interaction between them and the ICT industry. The expo was an occasion for young learners to get involved in the industry while still at school, thereby giving them the chance to consider and plan out future careers in the ICT sector.

Ten learners and two chaperones per province participated in the event, ensuring the expo had a national presentation of learners. The students also had the opportunity to chat to staff members and technicians about Sentech's products and ways in which they can forge a career in the ICT sector.

In addition, the learners had the opportunity to engage in forum sessions where they engaged in discussions about policy formulation and the conceptualisation of programmes which concern them.
