Cell C, Virgin boost prepaid offers

Cell C has announced new All In One Vouchers for prepaid customers that can be used to recharge Cell C to Cell C voice minutes, SMSes and .

“Now prepaid customers will be able to talk, text, and surf with the same voucher,” says Simon Camerer, Cell C's executive head of marketing.

Customers can purchase one of three vouchers ranging from R49 to R199.

A R49 voucher will allow the user 100 SMSes, 100 minutes (Cell C to Cell C) and 100MB data. An R89 voucher will provide 200 of the same, while a R199 voucher translates to 500 SMSes, minutes and MB data.

Previously, prepaid customers have had to purchase airtime vouchers that they could then use to buy SMS or data bundles. The new vouchers offer data prices between 40c and 50c per megabyte and on-net call rates of 40c to 50c per minute.

Controlchat contract customers also have the option of using the new vouchers to top up.

Free airtime

Virgin Mobile also recently introduced a new benefit for prepaid customers, offering R10 free airtime for every R30 used. The airtime is automatically loaded to the customer's phone and can be used for SMS, data or voice calls to any .

All prepaid customers were automatically migrated to the new product last month.

Virgin Mobile CEO Steve Bailey says: “Virgin Mobile is now benefiting from reduced interconnect rates, and we are happy to be able to pass this onto our valued prepaid customers through this unprecedented value reward offering.”
