Centennial Software launches Centennial Discovery 4.52

Johannesburg, 26 Nov 2004

SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com group, and the southern African distributor for Centennial, today announced Centennial Discovery 4.52, the latest version of its award-winning IT auditing and management software, which promises to offer even faster and more detailed audits of an organisation's hardware and software assets.

The latest release of Centennial Discovery introduces a number of features and enhancements designed to offer both short- and long-term benefits to users. Key to Centennial Discovery 4.52 is the introduction of new security measures to ensure the integrity of client agent deployments, authentication and reporting, giving additional peace of mind for organisations that audit across public networks or the Internet.

For companies with diverse IT infrastructures, enhancements to the Unix and Mac agents brings them in line with the high levels of audit already enjoyed by Windows users and ensures a consistency of audit data across all platforms and sites. Auditing new machines is also faster, with a new one-click agent deployment option.

To further reduce the ongoing administration of Centennial Discovery, 4.52 introduces the option of auto-updating client agents, which mean that client updates, either full or partial, can be performed directly from the central Control Centre.

"The goal for Centennial Discovery 4.52 was to create a solution that met the needs of real-world networks, not just testing environments," commented Centennial Software executive vice-president, Glenn Stephens. "This meant a lot of time spent talking to customers to ensure we addressed their needs fully.

"Our enhanced client agents and updated software recognition engine ensure that Centennial Discovery continues to offer the most complete network audit possible, while development on the Control Centre means that Centennial Discovery remains the easiest IT audit solution to install and manage."

In recognition of the growth in thin client popularity, another key development in Centennial Discovery 4.52 is the ability to recognise and locate thin client terminals on the network and correctly distinguishing them from standard PCs and laptops.
