With DeskView for Displays, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Altiris have widened their successful, long-term partnership in client and asset management. The new application, developed jointly by the two companies, is integrated into the DeskView client management software package. DeskView for Displays enables administrators to configure monitor settings and collect asset management information from a remote location.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Altiris already offer the DeskView management solution for client hardware from Fujitsu Siemens Computers. DeskView for Displays extends the functionality of this application to SCENICVIEW Premium Line LCD monitors. As a result, Fujitsu Siemens Computers monitors are as easy to manage as PCs. A DeskView for Displays license is already included with these monitors.
"With our ESPRIMO Professional PCs and SCENICVIEW monitors, we are committed to making it as easy as possible for our customers to use and administer their client infrastructure," commented Andrew Tsobanoglou, Product Manager Professional Products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Effective client management is best achieved by closely incorporating the hardware with the system management solution. The strategic cooperation between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Altiris is of great importance to ensuring such tight integration and thus increased customer benefit."
"Companies are under growing pressure to optimise their IT infrastructure and IT services, despite shrinking budgets and ever shorter upgrade cycles. The only way to meet this challenge is with efficient system management tools," added Christof Majer, Director Strategic Alliances at Altiris. "DeskView integrates seamlessly into existing management suites and truly helps companies achieve end-to-end IT lifecycle management."
IT lifecycle management with DeskView
DeskView is constantly enhanced to ensure customers always have access to the latest technology. In October 2005, for example, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Altiris added two new components to DeskView. In addition to the DeskView Admin solution already included with hardware, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has also been offering its customers the DeskView Migrate and DeskView Control modules.
* DeskView Admin allows fast and easy access to system management for client hardware from Fujitsu Siemens Computers by delivering the following features: system inventory, BIOS and interface management, device and component monitoring with comprehensive alarm management, and extensive help-desk integration.
* DeskView Migrate supplements DeskView Admin with software distribution features that simplify the switch to a newer Microsoft operating system (migrating user-specific settings, for example) while considerably reducing the associated costs.
* DeskView Control offers remote control, multi-vendor hardware and software inventory management, and self-repairing software capabilities. This solution also provides customers with additional software licence monitoring and user help-desk features.
