The Centratel Group has announced the formation of a new subsidiary, Centracom, a voice connectivity service provider.
The Centratel Group is the largest multi-vendor telecommunications distributor in Africa and has two other subsidiaries, namely Centravoice and Centrafin as well as Masakhe Telecommunications, a BEE empowered consultancy.
Centracom will make use of next-generation technologies to provide voice connectivity to both small and large clients through direct sales, strategic partnerships and the group's dealer base.
"Revenue for the company will be derived from the billing of local, national, cellular as well as international and incoming calls," said Michael Aitken, Centratel group managing director.
"Centracom will offer clients greater cost savings and far more reliability than is currently being achieved by either voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) or traditional cellular-based least-cost routing (LCR) solutions.
"As Centracom will never exclusively use any voice network or provider, it will always be in a position to provide the best of breed solutions to customers," said Aitken.
The Centratel group is the master distributor for many of the world's top selling PABX vendors, amongst which are Alcatel-Lucent, Mitel and Siemens. Current sales are in excess of 500 systems per month, and are through an established national dealer channel.
End-users predominantly use rental finance to acquire PABX equipment. This finance is provided by Centrafin, a group company.
"With the addition of Centracom, the group is now able to offer a full turnkey solution by providing equipment, finance and connectivity," concluded Aitken.
Centracom will be headed up by Jason Smith.
