Centrelink boosts self-service computers
Queues at Centrelink offices around Australia are set to shorten through the roll-out of about 1 000 extra self-service computers, reports Brisbane Times.
The system allows customers to conduct certain basic transactions online at the centres instead of going through a customer service assistant. Currently there are about 600 self-service computers in operation. That number will increase to almost 1 500 by the end of September.
Human services minister, Chris Bowen said the computers are quick, responsive and reliable.

BE Broadband offers Web solution
Internet service provider BE Broadband has made improvements to its customer service by offering subscribers a Web self-service feature powered by Transversal, writes Broadband Genie.
Using this feature, broadband customers are able to receive instant answers to their questions while surfing the BE Web site. By making use of BE's online chat support, users will be able to have their queries answered automatically and, if the system feels a human representative will be more helpful, they will be able to provide answers using a live chat function.
BE is confident its customer service knowledgebase will serve users well with automatic responses to over 200 questions and counting. By analysing the customer questions the provider says it should be able to gain an insight into what its customers are looking for and tailor its Web content accordingly.
