The Institute of Commercial and Financial Accountants of Southern Africa (CFA) has conferred its full endorsement on the Pastel Accounting range of software products.
Confirming the endorsement, CFA chief executive officer Bill Shellard said the Institute recognises Pastel as the "preferred choice" in accounting software packages for the South African SME business market.
The CFA endorsement is complemented by independent market research conducted within the accounting profession by research house Objectivity. The research established that Pastel is the preferred SME accounting software choice of nine out of ten professional accountants practising in SA.
Shellard said Pastel`s contribution to the professional accounting community is significant in terms of ongoing comprehensive support programmes: "Pastel has continually focused on investment to deliver robust SME accounting software solutions and back-up services that add real value to the accounting process."
The CFA, formed in 1982, has more than 5 000 registered members, making it the second largest accounting body in SA. It has been a full member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) since 1995 and represents professionally qualified accountants, in practice and in commerce and industry.
"Most of our members offer accounting and allied services to the general public, and to business entities, ranging from small, owner-managed businesses to large organisations. As professionals, our members are subject to rules of professional conduct and a strict code of ethics. This protects the users of their services, and helps to preserve the integrity of the profession," said Shellard.
"We are honoured by the endorsement," said Stephen Corrigan, managing director of Pastel Software SA, a Softline company. "It vindicates the results of independent market research showing Pastel is the preferred SME accounting software choice of 87% of professional accountants practising in SA."
