Channel Champ winners unveiled
In the 19th annual Channel Champions, top vendors in 24 categories were determined by solution providers responding to surveys either online or by telephone, reports Channel Web.
VARs were asked to evaluate the importance of technical, support and financial criteria, rate vendors' performance on technical, support and financial criteria and weigh vendors' performance scores by the relative importance of each technical, support and financial criteria.
Categories include security, collaboration, enterprise networking and middleware, among others.
Vendor netbook sales disappoint
Digitimes reports that Taiwanese vendors have failed to meet their netbook shipment goals in the first quarter, states Fudzilla.
According to a rough estimate provided to the site by channel vendors, Asus sold around 900 000 units, well under the estimated million mark, while MSI sold some 200 000 Wind series netbooks.
Acer was expected to ship around two million Aspire Ones in Q1, but sources claim its channel sales were lower.
Vendors prioritise printing management
Printers are often the forgotten element within IT infrastructures, but in many organisations this is starting to change, according to AustralianIT.
Facing the twin challenges of reducing costs and improving green credentials, companies are looking for a more efficient way to manage printing resources.
Printer vendors have recognised this and are working to provide a range of additional services that can assist companies to co-ordinate and control their printer fleets.
