Channel scores with HP rugby promotion

Johannesburg, 15 Oct 2003

Thirty-five lucky South African rugby fans, from HP`s channel partner , will jet off to Australia for the SA versus England game on 18 October, courtesy of Hewlett-Packard.

During August, HP ran a channel incentive programme aimed at increasing sales for HP`s Personal Systems and Enterprise Systems groups as well as rewarding channel partners for their continued support of HP`s business.

"We consider our partners to be a strategic to HP and they contribute fully to our competitive advantage. We wanted to demonstrate our continued commitment to the channel through an incentive programme that would deliver value across the board," says Kim Petersen, HP channel marketing manager.

The promotion, conducted in partnership with HP`s distributors, Tarsus and Axiz, has received great support from resellers including winning companies Dimension , Tagg Computers, Tecnet, So Real Computers, Datacentrix Woodmead, DataPro, Sage Computer, Incredible Connection, AST Distributed Technology Services and CSS.

Participants were vying for the opportunity to view, first hand, one of the most exciting games of the World Cup plus flights, accommodation and match tickets.

"To qualify for this magnificent prize, resellers had to meet specified sales targets. Once the targets had been reached, the reseller was allocated an entry into the lucky draw. For example on the NX 9000, resellers got one entry for every 10 units sold. The greater the number of units sold, the greater the number of entries the reseller received," said Petersen.

For the Enterprise Systems Group, channel partners had to meet a specified target value of new business acquired.

"We are ecstatic with the response we have received through this promotion," continued Petersen. "The impact that this promotion made was largely due to the dedication and buy-in from the channel. HP would like to congratulate the winners and wish them well on this very exciting journey to support our rugby team."
