The South African Institute of Charted Accountants (SAICA) has given Microsoft Great Plains eEnterprise software its stamp of approval for its financial systems after a lengthy evaluation process.
SAICA, being the official body representing accountancy professionals in South Africa and boasting over 21 000 members, plays an important part in the country`s highly dynamic business sector.
According to Rob Theunissen, Operating Director of SAICA, the implementation of the Great Plains solution by TwoInc, a Microsoft Great Plains Partner, will go a long way toward making it one of the most effective institutions of its kind, offering high levels of service to its members.
"We found that our old accounting software was inefficient for our future needs, especially as we will be focusing on our ebusiness services and transacting over the Internet," says Theunissen.
Microsoft Great Plains was chosen after a long sales cycle and a review of features and benefits. "The solution`s functionality proved to be the best suited to our requirements and possessed the ability to function with our Progress database."
According to Theunissen, another motivating factor in favour of Microsoft Great Plains was "the fact that the solution was supported in South Africa, both in "expertise and personnel." Installation is expected to be completed by the end of June.
