Check Point appoints Faritec as gold partner

Johannesburg, 26 Jan 2005

Check Point, the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, has appointed Faritec as a Gold Valued Partner for SA, with specialisation in the area of managed firewall services.

Faritec`s gold designation is part of Check Point`s recently announced new channel partner programme, the Valued Partner Programme, that was designed to empower solution provider partners worldwide to achieve greater success in selling Check Point`s intelligent security solutions.

Faritec qualified for the gold designation by investing in and meeting significant requirements for trained and certified Check Point technical professionals, and providing Check Point solutions to end-users in all market segments. The company also has to be able to provide end-users with proven procurement, consulting, integration, installation, training and technical support skills.

"Gold partners demonstrate a proven level of value-added sales, technical and support expertise and provide solutions based on Check Point`s entire product line," says Niall Moynihan, EMEA technical director of Check Point Software Technologies. "This, combined with the significant revenue that Faritec generates for Check Point in SA, proves that the designation is well earned.

"With 100% of our sales driven through the channel, it is essential for us to give our partners the tools they need to provide customers with the most intelligent security solutions on the market," says Moynihan.

"Check Point has enabled us to build significant expertise in selling its solutions to our targeted enterprise and high-end customers, and we strongly believe in the quality of Check Point`s perimeter security solutions," says Gordon Love, head of security services at Faritec.

Faritec launched its managed security service offering in 2003, delivering information technology security monitoring, management and response and recovery services to clients on a 24x7 real-time basis. The company is expecting its security offering to have a revenue stream of approximately R170 million by 2006.

As a gold partner, Faritec will be rewarded with access to a combination of sales, marketing and support offerings including:

* Early access programme - Early education and access to newly launched products 90 days prior to first customer shipment.

* Priority order processing - Speeding up order processing at peak ordering times to help reduce the sales cycles and close business.

* Greater knowledge transfer - New online training tools, simplified partner Web portal, collateral, and localised resources to prepare and educate partners to sell new Check Point solutions.

* Superior marketing support - Varied incentive programmes, marketing development funds, co-op reimbursement and the PartnerMAP Web portal designed to increase partner productivity.
