VAD Africa, a Check Point distributor, announced the availability of Check Point Connectra 2.0, the newest version of the company`s revolutionary Web Security Gateway that provides SSL VPN access with integrated application and endpoint security. In addition to the existing appliance version, Check Point is now offering increased flexibility with the industry`s first software-based SSL VPN solution.
Introduces Connectra 2.0 for Secure Web Connectivity
Introduced in 2004, Connectra 2.0 further builds on Check Point`s strategy of unifying SSL VPN with application and endpoint security. Connectra delivers the industry`s most secure SSL VPN with integrated Web Intelligence technology, allowing organisations to deploy clientless SSL VPN access without compromising security in Web-based connections. In addition, Connectra offers unparalleled protection by allowing organisations to enforce specific endpoint security requirements on remote PCs, from public kiosk to corporate-owned PCs.
In addition to Web Intelligence, Application Intelligence and endpoint spyware detection security, Connectra 2.0 includes the following integrated features:
* Secure browser and cache cleaning: To enable secure access even in unmanaged environments such as an airport Internet kiosk PC, Connectra provides an integrated secure browser that encrypts session data on the remote endpoint.
* Endpoint host checking: Connectra 2.0 can enforce an access policy requiring anti-virus software and installed Check Point Integrity firewall on a remote PC before a user is granted access.
* Real-time security updates: Check Point SmartDefense Service now provides real-time updates for endpoint security.
* New platform options: In addition to the already successful Connectra appliance models, it is now available as a software solution on Intel and AMD-based PCs and servers, as Connectra SW.
Web security gateway unifies endpoint security with SSL VPN
Check Point is the only vendor to deliver the three essential components of endpoint protection for SSL VPNs: detecting and disabling spyware, ensuring session confidentiality and enforcing security policy compliance before granting remote access. With the integration of a clientless version of Check Point Integrity, the industry`s most trusted endpoint security solution, Connectra secures the network from remote PCs, whether employee or guest.
Industry analyst John Girard, vice-president of Gartner, explains: "Endpoint security is an escalating problem as SSL VPNs go mainstream. Users need to be protected from the moment they start an SSL connection through the moment they have logged out."
"Check Point Connectra 2.0 combines Web connectivity and security to deliver the industry`s most comprehensive and secure remote access solution," said Gonen Fink, vice-president of solutions and strategy, Check Point Software. "With Connectra 2.0, Check Point is enabling the widest range of deployment options - whether customers are choosing to deploy market-leading security on the appliance model or a software-based deployment on open servers. We are committed to offering customers choice and flexibility to accommodate their remote access scalability and standards needs."
