Choice Technologies, an IT systems and integration company, today announced the appointment of Abe Mbulawa as managing director. Mbulawa succeeds former MD, Jabu Sibanda, who has left Choice Technologies to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities in the IT sector.
Mbulawa joins Choice Technologies from De Beers Consolidated Mines, where he directed the restructuring of technology infrastructure at the mining group`s corporate headquarters based in Johannesburg.
"Abe Mbulawa is a valuable addition to the Choice Technologies team. We look forward to drawing on his expertise as a turnaround specialist, particularly with our focus shifting to customer development strategies and broadening our existing offerings to include related software services," says Semela Tseka, CEO of Choice Technologies.

Prior to De Beers, Mbulawa held a senior position at Siemens Business Services (SBS) in its strategic business development division. His portfolio included the management of SBS`s largest outsource contract, Mossgas.
Mbulawa also gained invaluable experience during his appointment as the director of information technology services for the City of Cape Town, where he played an instrumental role in defining the e-government architecture that has now become the backbone of the government`s national strategy.
Mbulawa`s African and international experience includes a position at Engen Petroleum as a business strategist and a technology advisory position at the European Union based in Brussels. Other career highlights include working with Coopers & Lybrand UK, the Department of Trade and Industry (Botswana) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in its evaluation of a satellite-driven telecommunications strategy with Motorola.
