Choice Technologies expands its services division

Choice Technologies has expanded its Services Division with the appointment of 15 new technicians. This brings the number of specialist technical staff at Choice to more than 40.

Choice Technologies is one of South Africa`s leading Black high-end networking solutions providers and a major supplier of IT services to government organisations and leading companies in the private sector.

The new technicians were recruited mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds and put through a vigorous, six week technical training and life-skills development programme.

In addition, they attended time management, customer care, stress management and conflict management courses to better equip them to deal with the soft issues they will encounter on a day-to-day basis, says Choice Technologies services director, Dexter Motta-Marques.

He says Choice has invested more than R 500 000 in the recruitment and training of its service technicians most of whom are MCSE, CNE or CCNA certified.

"We have taken on additional staff to support our growing business, particularly in the government and parastatal sectors," he says. "We`re also gearing up for expected organic growth in 2001.

"We have invested in our team to ensure that they are qualified in a broad range of network and server vendors` equipment, including 3Com, Cisco, Alcatel, Compaq, Acer and Mecer.

"We believe service providers are the ambassadors of their companies, as a result, business etiquette, empathy and effective customer care will form an important part of the Choice support teams` tool-box."

Choice Technologies has service centres in Johannesburg, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, George, Cape Town, Pietersburg and Mmbabatho. Plans are in place to establish centres in Bloemfontein and Nelspruit.
