ChowHub aims at pairing up hungry people with restaurants in their areas. The service, available online and via mobile, uses the location of the user to suggest nearby restaurants and enable online ordering.
Users can order directly from ChowHub partner restaurants and can view the menus of other restaurants for free. ChowHub can be set up to automate the ordering process on the restaurant side in under an hour.
ChowHub was developed by Ismail Dhorat and Alireza Sadeghi, who had their own frustrations trying to order food online. One weekend, the pair was working long hours developing another product and found it surprisingly difficult to find a restaurant that would deliver pizza to their area. An idea was born.
"We noted a gap in the market in that there weren't any services that linked the customer directly to a restaurant at high pace with efficient service," explains Dhorat.
Users can sign up with ChowHub for free, either online or on the mobisite, and can get order confirmation in under 30 seconds. As soon as the restaurant accepts the order, the user receives an SMS notification.
"We make the process of finding local restaurants and ordering takeout as simple as possible, reducing errors or incorrect orders due to miscommunication," says Dhorat. "Also, customers have the entire menu available to them on mobile and they do not have to ask about items on the menu over the phone."
ChowHub does not get its revenue from the user, unlike some sites that offer a similar service. Instead, it charges the restaurant a commission. Restaurants can list on ChowHub for free. The platform caters to delivery or pickup orders.
