Cisco, EMC in cloud partnership
Networking firm Cisco has partnered with information infrastructure and virtual infrastructure hardware, software and services provider EMC to offer joint technical education applications in the areas of cloud architecture, virtualisation, storage, data centre networking and data science, CBR reports.
The new applications incorporate courseware from VMware, enabling organisations to acquire the skills required to architect, build and transform their IT infrastructures, adopt cloud computing and tap the potential offered by big data and data science.
The collaborative education applications will address disciplines such as cloud architect, systems administrator, storage, backup and recovery, data centre networking, data centre network design, systems management and data scientist, through an organised framework.
The timing seems right for this high-tech tag team educational effort, CIO Today writes.
Explosive data growth and cloud computing, converged infrastructure, unified networking and big data are making an IT impact.
Beyond IT systems and infrastructures, tech staff that design, install, operate and manage the systems also need new skill sets in the face of the IT evolution.
“Cisco, EMC and VMware have partnered together to offer comprehensive and skill-specific training around cloud, virtualisation and big data,” eChannel Line quotes Anthony Bryant, director of learning services at Cisco, as saying.
“It's an industry-first type of offering that leverages skill sets of all three vendors to enable organisations to adopt cloud computing and embrace big data. By coming together, we offer simple and comprehensive role-based training that involves multiple skill sets.”
