Cisco intros iPad collaboration solution

Cisco has unveiled collaboration solutions designed to connect people and give them access and content irrespective of location, reports Network World.

Cisco Quad is a platform designed for enterprise collaboration to integrate voice, video and social networking into one workspace.

Mobile Quad applications have been optimised for the Apple iPad and iPhone so employees remain connected and engaged in interactions with their colleagues around the globe. Cisco plans for the Quad to be available in early 2011.

Businesses' e-mail management poor

Many businesses are failing to adequately manage their incoming and outgoing e-mail, says Global Gold.

Doug Miles, UK managing director at the Association for Information and Image Management, suggests the majority of firms are not confident that e-mails relating to documenting commitments and obligations are recorded, complete and retrievable.

Miles claims that even where enterprise content management solutions are in place, they are often not being used properly - comments which may allude to the benefits of managed hosting.

SMEs get mobi-site tool

Domain registry dotMobi has created a service to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop mobile versions of their Web sites, states IT Pro.

The service includes content management and developer tools optimised for mobile site creation, with the sites themselves hosted in the dotMobi cloud so businesses don't have to pay for extra hosting.

DotMobi CEO Trey Harvin says: “The goMobi platform connects SMEs to their customers significantly faster because a goMobi site delivers only the content mobile customers need, while making it easy for businesses to set up and maintain a unique mobile Web site.”
