Cisco SA bolsters channel commitment

Cisco has appointed AxizWorkgroup as its distributor for SA.

According to the brand, the aim is for Axiz to help Cisco extend its exposure in the market and provide access to the public sector, a key focus for Cisco in SA. The company believes AxizWorkgroup has the right pedigree and credentials to support its work in the region.

AxizWorkgroup's adherence to the Department of Trade and Industry's BBBEE Codes contributed to Cisco's decision to with the company.

Cisco also appointed Kevin Hardy as director of partner operations and commercial for Cisco's South African operations. The appointment is intended to extend Cisco's channel business focus in the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, while also expanding its commercial business.

The networking company says that, with more than 10 years' experience within the Cape region, Hardy's strong understanding of both the partner and OEM environments will stand him in good stead in his new role at Cisco. "This is a very exciting time for our partner organisation in South Africa, as someone of Kevin's calibre is ideally placed to drive the business forward," says Alpheus Mangale, MD at Cisco SA.

Hardy brings with him in-depth knowledge of the region that will help him deliver on his goal to build the best possible structure to support the right in SA. With previous experience at Dimension Data and Aspiviam, Hardy has a wealth of experience in the ICT sector.

"Our strategic collaboration with AxizWorkgroup will give us access and exposure to new markets. At a time when a massive wave of global connectivity, employee mobility and an explosion of data is making customers' businesses more complex, Cisco and its partners have an opportunity to solve customers' most complex business challenges in a way that only Cisco and its partners can deliver," said Mangale. "We are confident these appointments will enable us to help our partners in South Africa evolve their business models to respond to market transitions and new consumption models."

According to Henry Ferreira, CEO at AxizWorkgroup, the company is delighted with the agreement.
