Cisco to buy out ExtendMedia
Cisco is all set to acquire privately held ExtendMedia, a provider of software-based content management systems (CMS), reports Katonda.
ExtendMedia's CMS software, which will integrate with Cisco's current IP video offerings, will be a core component of Cisco's next-generation video architecture.
Together, Cisco and ExtendMedia will enable service providers to deploy a next-generation, end-to-end video architecture with access to any content, over any network, on any device.
Web content management booms
For the first time this year, Web CMS may generate more than $1 billion in revenue for its vendors, up from $890 million during the recession-laden 2009, states Reuters.
Analyst firm Gartner states in its report entitled Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management that the market for Web CM tools will grow at a compound annual rate of 14% from 2009 to 2014.
"The growth of the online channel for businesses is growing exponentially," says Gartner research vice president Toby Bell, who co-authored the report. "I think we're just beginning to understand the potential of the Web, both for commerce and for community."
Congress library gets CM services
CACI International has been awarded a $40 million prime contract to continue providing content management and delivery support for the US Library of Congress, says Market Watch.
CACI's support includes providing technical expertise in content management and delivery services, as well as Web application development.
CACI has helped the library, founded in the 1800s, to develop digital archiving tools and techniques, including large-scale automation tools and standardised processes for end-to-end support of digital content.
