Expand Networks, the leader in optimising WANs for branch office consolidation and virtualisation, today announced that Clear Creek County Colorado Sheriff's Department is benefiting from an innovative and unique communications system designed for operating in extremely challenging terrain and conditions. The system comprises cutting-edge communications technologies from Expand Networks, and delivered by Clear Channel Satellite.
Combining Expand Networks' Satellite optimisation technology with Clear Channel's popular XtremeSat Internet over satellite platform, the system allows for high-speed broadband data and VOIP in a highly portable package.

Expand Networks' data acceleration and link optimisation solution is increasing data throughput up to 10 times. The system at Clear Creek also incorporated RAD Data Communications' two-part solution with its patented VMux, TDMoIP Voice compression for up to eight simultaneous phone calls and RAD's Air Mux 400 for phone/data connectivity up to 10 miles away from the satellite uplink. The was critical for a Clear Creek solution as they frequently need to operate in areas with tall mountains and steep canyon walls that won't always allow for a satellite connection. The implemented solution enables the satellite system to be located on a mountain top, with the rest of the communications system on the canyon floor.
