Climate change puts trillions at risk
According to the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, investors could risk losing trillions of dollars due to the effects of climate change.
Mecer recommends that investors manage the risk posed by climate change by altering their strategic asset allocation techniques that promote a low-carbon economy.
Estimates from the Mercer study indicate that investment opportunities in this type of asset may be as large as $5 trillion by 2030.
A report by Just Means reveals that Kevin Parker, global head of Deutsche Bank's Asset Management division believes that business has reached a critical point where the talk about climate change is starting to translate into action.
“Asset owners everywhere are starting to move and their first impulse is to identify where in their portfolios the climate risk lies. To do so effectively and efficiently, they need a new intellectual framework and set of tools. And they need them now,” says Parker.
