Cloud-bases tool unveiled

Danish software company Targit and its US subsidiary have unveiled a new cloud-based (BI) service, says KMWorld.

Targit Personal Intelligence (Targit PI) is designed for non-technical users to gain insight into with a minimal amount of clicks, says the company.

The company explains Targit PI allows users to upload their raw data files and gain overview and insight through an intuitive graphical visualisation and navigation, which also exists in the popular Targit BI Suite. In fact, Targit describes the offering as essentially a cloud-based version of the company's existing BI solution.

New reference architecture on HP servers

Touting what it says is "significantly lower" total cost of ownership, Sybase announced its IQ 15 BI software being a reference architecture on HP ProLiant DL785 servers, reports Earthweb.

The joint solution is designed to optimise query response and data loads, while reducing overhead, storage costs and maintenance requirements.

You could already buy HP servers and storage and add Sybase IQ 15. "But with the reference architecture you're guaranteed to know what the price is going to be and the performance," Dan Lahl, senior director of product marketing at Sybase, told InternetNews.com.

India searches for BI apps

Venture capitalists and private equity firms in India are now looking at IT product companies for investments, writes SiliconIndia.

In a growth-stage funding, the private equity firm, which manages funds capitalised at close $1.8 billion across investment stages in the country, acquired an undisclosed stake in the company with an investment of 60 rupees crore.

Investment firms are looking at mobile applications, products targeted at the healthcare and education sectors, business intelligence and analytics, digital or enterprise and consumer security and medical devices.
