Expert predicts rapid cloud growth

An expert has predicted that cloud computing will continue to experience rapid growth in popularity over the next few years and predicted that businesses will soon be utilising scores of different tools, writes Experian QAS.

Gartner analyst Daryl Plummer told delegates at a recent Cloud Leadership Summit to brace themselves for changes in cloud computing.

"Adoption of the cloud is rising rapidly - there's no sign that it's going back. We have to think about how [we will] deal with this," Mr Plummer said.

CTOs in cloud caucus

Chief technology officers from 13 software and computer hardware companies met in Washington to discuss cloud computing with members of congress and federal administration officials, states Information Management.

As part of the sixth annual Business Software Alliance (BSA) forum, industry leaders were meeting with administration officials to discuss how the federal government can best leverage cloud computing to cut costs and improve performance.

“The software industry strongly supports the federal government's move to adopt cloud computing solutions,” BSA President and CEO Robert Holleyman said.
