COA to host BI workshop at BI World 2002

Johannesburg, 02 Jul 2002

Comparex Africa`s Customer Oriented Applications (COA) division is to host a business intelligence (BI) workshop at the three-day Business Intelligence World Africa 2002 exhibition at The Dome in Northgate, Gauteng on 22 July. Presented by Anthony Gilbey, senior business knowledge analyst with Comparex Africa COA, the one-day workshop will focus on how to gain the competitive edge with strategic business intelligence.

"BI today is more than managing numbers," says Gilbey. "It has evolved from being a technical solution to one that provides key strategic management methodology that can deliver a true competitive edge for managing the enterprise and realising your corporate goals."

Gilbey believes BI is about using strategy and methodology that maximises appropriate technologies that capture, manage and connect organisational expertise, and honing these solutions to harness the potential that a carefully planned strategy can unleash.

The workshop will define business intelligence, determine the value of a BI strategy in the effective deployment of business intelligence, emphasise the importance of portfolio management, and analyse the benefits of linking corporate knowledge and expertise. It will also cover how BI fits into a well planned CRM strategy, and look at an organisation`s expectations from a BI strategist`s perspective.

Previously known as Infosmart Africa, Business Intelligence World Africa remains the only dedicated and focused back-to-middle technology application event in Africa. The event has run for the past four years, and has taken position as one of the IT industry`s prominent annual exhibitions, showcasing core business technologies from data capture and document management tools to solutions for the storage, analysis, retrieval, dissemination, sharing and use of information and knowledge for strategic decision-making.
