Companies are often faced with the need to comply with multiple standards and regulations.
To minimise overlap and duplicate work, the non-profit, independent IT Governance Institute (ITGI) has released a series of documents that map several IT good practices to the Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT) framework.
The mapping documents provide a single framework that enables CIOs and IT professionals to easily compare and implement a variety of good practices, allowing them to achieve compliance more efficiently.
The newest publication in the series, COBIT Mapping: Mapping of NIST SP800-53 Rev 1 with COBIT 4.1, is now available at www.isaca.org/cobitmapping and www.isaca.org/bookstore.
Additional COBIT mappings include:
* COBIT Mapping: Mapping of TOGAF 8.1 with COBIT 4.0;
* COBIT Mapping: Mapping of CMMI for Development V1.2 with COBIT 4.0;
* COBIT Mapping: Mapping of ITIL with COBIT 4.0;
* COBIT Mapping: Mapping of PRINCE2 with COBIT 4.0;
* COBIT Mapping: Mapping of ISO/IEC 17799: 2005 with COBIT 4.0;
* COBIT Mapping: Mapping PMBOK to COBIT 4.0;
* COBIT Mapping: Mapping SEI's CMM for Software to COBIT 4.0;
* COBIT Mapping to ISO/IEC 17799:2000 with COBIT, 2nd Edition;
* COBIT Mapping Overview of International IT Guidance, 2nd Edition; and
* Aligning COBIT, ITIL and ISO 17799 for Business Benefit.
Developed by ITGI, COBIT is internationally accepted as good practice for control over information, IT and related risks. Its guidance enables enterprises to implement effective IT governance programmes that are pervasive throughout the organisation. The most recent edition, COBIT 4.1, was released in May 2007 and is available as a free download from www.itgi.org.
"As a comprehensive umbrella framework, COBIT is designed to suit every organisation," said Robert Stroud, vice-president of ITGI and IT governance evangelist with CA. "It can be extended for specific areas through detailed, standardised processes that can be mapped to the COBIT framework, providing greater breadth and depth of controls."
COBIT mappings are available for purchase from the ISACA Bookstore at www.isaca.org/bookstore. Some are also available for complementary download at www.isaca.org/cobitmapping.
