Cognizant acquires PIPC

Indian software company Cognizant has acquired UK-based consultancy PIPC, a program management company, according to Network World.

Cognizant says PIPC offered a wide range of program management services and tools, including the PMO (Project Management Office) core competency and its PhD (Project Health Diagnostic) tool.

The company says PIPC will complement its existing project management capabilities and help provide integrated services across consulting, technology, and business process outsourcing.

Microsoft updates Project, Visio

Microsoft has unveiled the iteration of its Office 2010 productivity suite, including the latest versions of Project and Visio, the company's project management and business diagramming applications, states Internet News.

With a number of enhancements and links to other Office products, the release of both Visio 2010 and Project 2010 at a media event in New York is important to Microsoft's strategy and to the products' long-time users.

The company acquired both products through outside acquisitions - Visio in 2000 and Project in 1985 - and their sheer longevity underlines their importance.

Pcubed enhances PM

The Pcubed solutions and Microsoft software will improve client return on project investment by increasing replication of proven project management practices across the enterprise.

Microsoft has also engaged Pcubed to enable a program management approach for its Microsoft Office 2010 US release.
