Cognos BI Series 7 wins top BI solution award

Johannesburg, 04 Jun 2003

Cognos, the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management (CPM), has won Computing Magazine`s 2003 Well-Connected Award for business intelligence for Cognos BI Series 7. The BI solution was chosen over a host of other competitive offerings for its robust analytics, rapid deployment, ease of use and superior enterprise reporting.

"The Well-Connected Awards are the only industry awards given by technologists based on real-world product testing and evaluation. We view all products, technologies and services from the same perspective as our readers - our peers - do," says Fritz Nelson, VP and publisher of Network Computing. "This is an important distinction from any other award programme - the products selected in the Well Connected Awards have been tested over an enterprise by our editors themselves. They are truly innovative solutions that work."

Cognos BI Series 7 was selected by the highly respected team at Network Computing for its performance and usability, says David McWilliam, MD of Cognos Africa. "Given the Network Computing lab team`s exacting standards for solution excellence, this award is a great endorsement. The Well-Connected Award is yet another testament to the efforts and innovation of the Cognos business intelligence research and development team, the industry`s largest."

Series 7 is the most comprehensive business intelligence solution available, offering customers flexible scorecards, dashboards, managed reporting, analysis, advanced ad hoc query, actionable event-driven BI and integration.

All winners and finalists were highlighted in the 1 May issue of Network Computing, Network Computing Online at www.networkcomputing.com and also on www.nwcwellconnected.com.

Cognos BI Series 7 was also recently selected as a finalist for Datamation Magazine`s Product of the Year 2002 in the Data Mining and Business Intelligence category.
