Cognos has announced the immediate availability of a new financial charting solution to support nasdaq.com and amex.com. In an agreement to provide a company performance charting solution for Web users, the Nasdaq-Amex Market Group turned to Cognos, the leading strategic vendor of enterprise business intelligence solutions.
Visitors to nasdaq.com and amex.com will be able to use the charting solution to analyse the corporate performance of Nasdaq, Amex, and NYSE companies. The financial data for the solution is provided by Primark Corporation, a leading provider of financial and business research information.
"The Cognos solution delivers information from Primark`s comprehensive Disclosure database to a mass Web-based audience in a way that is highly useful to investors," says Bill O`Conor, executive vice president, at Primark`s Financial Information Division.
"This application is distinguished by the clarity of information it brings to so many users. This application builds on our vision to provide quality financial information directly to the desktops of financial, corporate and research professionals allowing them to make better informed decisions about their investments."
Through its solution, Cognos will provide charts that cover key financials, such as revenue, return on equity, and profit margins, for Nasdaq, Amex and NYSE listed companies. In addition, users will be able to see how a selected company compares along key financial measures relative to the appropriate Nasdaq Index, to averages for its overall sector, and to companies of a similar size in their sector. This entire solution is powered by Cognos` leading business intelligence technology for e-business.
"An explosion of Internet and online trading has revolutionised the world of investing," says Donald Bosic, senior vice president for worldwide marketing at the Nasdaq-Amex Market Group. "Cognos is providing unique ways for investors to analyse companies` performances compared to an index, their sector, and size within their sector."
"We`re taking the reporting and analysis capabilities - used by companies all over the world to see and understand their businesses - and making them available on the Internet to let investors see and understand every business listed on the Nasdaq exchange," says Tom Camps, Cognos vice president of market strategies.
"Business people already know that informed decision-making based on consistent information leads to better, healthier, more profitable organisations. What better forum to appreciate the power of an e-business solution than analysing performance of the visionary companies and technology leaders listed on the world`s first electronic exchange at the nasdaq.com and amex.com Web sites."
