Cognos, the specialist in business intelligence (BI) and performance management, has released Cognos Series 7 Version 2 to build on its end-to-end BI value of Cognos Series 7. This new version will be available in the market early March.
Cognos Series 7 Version 2, the market`s most comprehensive BI solution, offers customers flexible scorecards, dashboards, managed reporting, powerful analysis, advanced ad hoc query, actionable event-driven BI and data integration.
"The good news for Cognos customers keeps coming. Cognos Series 7 Version 2 continues to expand the boundaries of BI, offering the most comprehensive, integrated solution available," says David McWilliam, Cognos MD. "For customers driving to get the strategic foundation for corporate performance management (CPM) in place within their organisations, the choice is Cognos Series 7 Version 2."
New notification features will trigger database events and alert users to potential problems based on trends. This ability to "close the loop" will bring Cognos Series 7 Version 2 users closer to true business activity monitoring. Also, this release provides details on the event and highly filtered and event focused information such as customer order history reports and performance against service level agreements (SLAs). Providing a Web-optimised solution that serves up information to rapidly growing extended businesses without performance bottlenecks, Cognos Series 7 Version 2 also offers:
* Streamlined Web user interface for OLAP analysis, optimal for mission-critical intranet and extranet environments;
* Highly scalable enterprise reporting via zero-footprint, formatted HTML;
* Customised status reports delivered for viewing in HTML and all the other previously available formats;
* Zero-footprint, browser-only interface for dashboard viewing, enabling the rapid intranet and extranet deployment of high-impact visualisations; and
* Stateless architecture that unlike competitive offerings is not impacted by users idling on the system or simply reading information.
With Cognos Series 7 Version 2, Cognos adds support for HPUX 11i and IBM AIX 5L operating systems and continues to support a wide range of platforms including Solaris, Windows NT, 2000, 98, and XP. The solution provides native support for Teradata, IBM DB2, Informix, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase and ODBC relational data stores.
