Johannesburg, 11 Sep 2002

More than 10 000 Cognos customers, partners and industry experts will converge in 25 cities around the globe this fall to participate in Cognos` Enterprise 2002 User Days. Cognos, the world leader in business intelligence (BI), today opened the first User Days in the UK and Brazil.

Cognos, which has over 20 000 customers worldwide, the largest customer-base in the BI industry, will hold these events in locations across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and Latin America. They are designed to provide Cognos customers and partners with valuable insight and advice on using Cognos BI solutions to elevate business performance.

Participants will hear about Cognos` strategic direction for corporate performance management, important product developments, customer case studies, as well as technical tips and techniques on a broad range of topics. Cognos User Days also provide customers and partners with opportunities for networking and idea sharing with other members of the Cognos user community.

"Cognos remains committed to giving our customers and partners the information and expertise they need to improve corporate performance, particularly in these challenging economic times," said Dave Laverty, Cognos senior vice-president, global marketing. "Cognos Enterprise 2002 User Days are uniquely tailored to allow our customers to share best-practices with their peers and gain insight into real-world BI solutions that will help make their organisations more effective."

Cognos will also host its 2002 Financial Analyst and Investor Conference in conjunction with the Toronto User Day on 5 November. Cognos senior management will review the scope of the business intelligence market opportunity, explore how companies are using BI to optimise business performance, and update the investment community on Cognos` strategies for leadership in the BI market.
