Cognos ranked number one independent business intelligence vendor in DM Review`s 1999 Data Warehouse 100

Cognos today announced that it has once again been ranked the leading independent business intelligence (BI) vendor and number five company overall on the DM Review 1999 Data Warehouse 100 list. Cognos` ranking further solidifies its position as a global leader in enterprise business intelligence. A dominant force on the Web, Cognos offers award-winning services and support, industry expertise and a strategic approach to enterprise business intelligence, to make its customers successful. This is the second year in a row that Cognos has been ranked the top independent BI vendor. Last year Cognos ranked number six overall.

DM Review is rated the number one business intelligence and data warehousing magazine in the United States. The 1999 Data Warehouse 100 was determined based on the results of a product usage and vendor rating survey of DM Review readers conducted over the Web by Market Prospects, a Massachusetts-based intelligence company serving the data management industry. DM Review readers were asked to rate the vendors of business intelligence and data warehousing products used in their organizations. Vendor ratings were compiled into an index that accounted for the mean rating, the number of responses, the comparative position of the vendor in each product category, and the number of categories in which the vendor`s products appeared. The top ten rankings were revealed today in a Webcast that can be replayed from www.dmreview.com/awards/top100.
