ColdFusion MX verified for J2EE application servers

Johannesburg, 25 Jun 2003

Macromedia has announced that Macromedia ColdFusion MX has achieved "Java Verified" status under the Sun Microsystems Java Verification Programme. This programme is designed to identify enterprise applications developed with Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technology that are intended to be portable across different implementations of J2EE.

"One of the key objectives in bringing Macromedia ColdFusion MX to the J2EE platform is to give customers more flexible deployment options," says Jeremy Matthews, MD of Dax Data, local Macromedia solutions distributor.

"Passing the Java Application Verification Kit test suite ensures customers that they can enjoy the proven productivity of the ColdFusion environment on multiple J2EE application servers."

The Java Verification Programme enables vendors to demonstrate their commitment to standards, to minimise development costs and maximise return on investment. "By attaining Java Verified status for ColdFusion MX, Macromedia is helping developers take full advantage of the power of the J2EE platform, delivering the true promise of `Write Once, Run Anywhere`," says Matthews.

Macromedia ColdFusion MX is a rapid server-scripting environment for creating rich Internet applications that brings the ease of use and productivity of ColdFusion to the J2EE platform.

Macromedia is an elected member of the Java Community Process Executive Committee, which is comprised of 16 companies charged with leading the community of developers and vendors in creating future standards for the Java platform.
