Collaboration creates printing network
FedEx Office has partnered with Canon and HP to create a network of printing and imaging capabilities, reports Market Watch.
FedEx will utilise Canon and HP as sole source providers in their respective printing categories, and will deploy more than 12 000 Canon and HP printing devices across more than 1 800 locations in the US and Canada.
The equipment will be installed over the next 12 months. Brian Philips, president and CEO of FedEx Office says: "In Canon and HP, we are choosing two companies that understand our business and whose incomparable reputations, brands and histories of innovation align with our vision to bring customer ideas to life through the world's best print-on-demand network."
HP unveils printers, mobile scanners
HP is releasing printers and mobile scanners that target SMEs, states Channel Insider.
With the release of its Scanjet Professional 1000, the company touts the device can scan two-sided documents in a variety of sizes and thicknesses, including embossed cards and save the documents in different file formats.
“SMEs will shell out $81 billion on printing by 2013,” says Susy Brooks, LaserJet product marketing manager at HP, adding that the company looks to extend its market dominance.
Lick assets sold in pre-pack deal
Lick UK has confirmed it sold the assets of the business to Lick Group in a pre-pack deal, says Printweek.
Lick UK went into administration with insolvency practitioner BWC Business Solutions. "A short while after the appointment, we sold the business to Lick Group in a pre-pack sale,” says Paul Whitwam, partner at BWC.
There have been no redundancies with the transfer to the new business. According to PrintWeek's 2009 Top 500, Lick UK had a turnover of £3.7 million (R42 million) and employed 72 staff.
